Position
Description:
The
office of the Pastor is ordained by God to oversee the spiritual health and leadership
of the congregation, fulfilling the Great Commandment and Great Commission. Pastor
is to lead by the power of the Holy Spirit. Spiritual leadership is provided through humble
and Christ-centered servant in the areas of:

Preaching the Holy Scriptures
-
Fervent prayer warrior
-
Shepherding and nurturing God’s flock
-
Training and empowering believers to do the ministry
-
Outreaching to the unbelievers
Primary
Qualifications:
-
Clear testimony of regenerated faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and
baptized by immersion
-
As outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9:

Qualifications:
-
A graduate of an accredited Bible college or seminary, Master of
Divinity or higher preferred
-
Properly Ordained and licensed in an Evangelical/Baptist church
-
Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and good English language skills
-
Experience: 1- 3 years of full-time pastoral or key leadership experience
in a

In agreement with SOCBC’s Doctrinal statements, its Constitution and
By-laws

Competent in organization & administration
-
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Responsibilities:
-
Preach on Sundays in worship services, in Chinese and English
-
Provide mentoring and leadership for members and church leaders
-
Equip and encourage ministry team co-workers to fulfill Christ’s
mission
-
Provide support to small/cell group leaders and Bible study teachers
-
Administer Baptism and Lord’s Supper
-
Counsel and nurture the congregation
-
Participate in prayer meetings, council and members/business meetings
-
Involved in evangelism and missions
-
Keep regular office hours at the church office
Relationship
& Accountability:
-
Serve along with Council members
-
Be a non-voting member of all committees/teams at SOCBC
-
Preparing ministry reports in Council and Member’s meetings
-
Position is reviewed annually
